“We do not believe that we owe CUC any dollar,” NMC President Sharon Y. Hart said, adding that the college is meeting its monthly obligations.
During a recent NMC board meeting, Hart expressed surprised over the report that some government and autonomous agencies owed CUC millions of dollars in unpaid utility bill.
In its earlier report, CUC said it had $7.025 million in total receivables from the government as of Sept. 30, 2011 including $117,285 owed by NMC.
Immediately after the report came out, NMC facilities manager John Guerrero hand-delivered a letter to CUC seeking clarification, Hart said.
Hart also reported that the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges team that earlier visited NMC is now in the process of finishing its report, a copy of which may be received by the college next week.
Before the end of December, she said they will provide a supplemental report to the accrediting team.
Hart said the ACCJC is also inviting them to a commission meeting in January.
“By February we should be hearing from the commission in relation to the accreditation visit that we just had,” she added.
Hart said she will be attending the accreditation team training in March “to have a better perception of what those team members have to be working at when they come here.”
The training is important for NMC, she said.
