THE Democratic Party of the NMI’s candidates for this year’s midterm election received their certificates of candidacy on Wednesday.
At the party headquarters in Garapan, Luella I. Marciano, the party’s vice chair, handed the certificates of candidacy to House Floor Leader Edwin Propst, who is running for the U.S. Congress; Rep. Manny Gregory T. Castro, a candidate for a Saipan Senate seat; and Reps. Diego Vincent F. Camacho, Vicente Camacho and Denita Yangetmai, who are seeking reelection.
Also present were the party’s central executive committee executive director, Nola Hix, members Leila Staffler and Meling Chargualaf, Democratic National Convention National Committeewoman Tina Sablan and National Committeeman Mike White.
Marciano said the NMI Democratic Party fully endorses and supports the candidacies of Propst, Castro, Diego Vincent Camacho, Vicente Camacho and Denita Yangetmai.
Marciano, on behalf of the executive committee, wished them success on Nov. 5, 2024.
“We are delighted that our 2024 candidates successfully filed their candidacy petitions and have been officially certified,” Marciano said.
Castro, who won a House seat as an independent candidate, said he believes in the values of political parties and their significance.
“We all have to come and work together, with the coalition of the Democratic Party and the independent candidates in terms of where to take the Commonwealth forward. We must continue to work together to overcome these challenges that lie ahead,” he added.
