NMI Democrats to hold general membership meeting on March 29

THE Democratic Party of the Northern Mariana Islands cordially invites its Democratic family, prospective Democrats, and interested individuals to its general membership meeting scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the 360 Beach Club in Susupe from 9 a.m. in the morning to 12 noon.

This meeting is open to all, and those interested in becoming members of the Party are invited to attend. At this meeting, the Party will hold an election for the members of the Party’s Central Executive Committee, the governing body of the Democratic Party of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Former Delegate Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan, who for 16 years championed the people of the Northern Marianas in the U.S. House of Representatives, looks forward to gathering with Democrats from across the Marianas to elect new leaders and to ready the party for the midterm and general elections.

The general membership meeting will be a time to think seriously about not only the future of the Democratic Party in the Northern Marianas but also and more importantly, how the party can offer solutions for the people of the CNMI.

For her part, Vice Chair Luella Marciano is ready to shake things up. “I have served as Vice Chair for a few years now, and I am eager to elect a new CEC and to nominate and elect new officers. In addition to planning for the next election, the CEC and officers will continue to work with the Democratic National Committee and with our state and territory partners to strategize, collaborate, and execute plans to elect Democrats up and down and across the ballot,” she said.

“Trump and the GOP are wreaking havoc on our institutions, are targeting vulnerable populations, and are not offering concrete plans to help people. It is incumbent upon Democrats to counter GOP lies and to offer actual solutions. That is our responsibility, and I stand ready to do that work with our elected Democrats and the members of the NMI Democratic Party,” she added.

Candidates for the Central Executive Committee must be registered with the party and must reside in the election district they will represent. Nominations will be valid only if accepted by the nominated candidate. Interested individuals can register to become a party member today by visiting www.nmidems.org/.

The party’s registration and proxy registration forms can be submitted online but will also be available on-site.
