NMI to participate in Guam Liberation Day parade

Liberation Committee vice chairman Marciano Gordon yesterday said they already finalized the travel of the CNMI delegates.

The committee decided that aside from the 10 Liberation queen and princesses, Saipan Mayor Donald G. Flores and two chaperones will go to Guam.

Gordon said the committee will again meet to discuss the preparations for the CNMI float.

The committee gave each Liberation queen candidates a 20 percent share of the total tickets that they had sold, Gordon said.

Some of the candidates, their parents and friends visited the mayor’s office yesterday afternoon to ask if the Guam trip had been cancelled.

Jeff Tomokane, the mayor’s chief of staff, said they assured the parents  and the candidates that the trip will push through.

However, Tomokane said parents who want to go with their daughters to Guam must pay for their own travel and accommodations.

He said the CNMI delegation will leave on July 20 and return to Saipan on the 22nd.

The committee is giving the parents until noon today to confirm the participation of their daughters.
