NO major damages to property were reported to the Department of Public Safety when typhoon Chataan passed through Saipan on Friday, according to Public Safety Commissioner Edward C. Camacho.
In a telephone interview with Variety yesterday afternoon, Camacho said few trees were toppled and only minor vehicular accidents were reported.
Camacho said he received reports about one diving accident and a person that fell from a two-story building. He said details of these incidents will be available today.
Camacho said his specific instructions to DPS personnel were to conduct more patrols and provide assistance to the people in need of help due to the typhoon.
With respect to crimes, he said criminal mischief and minor cases were reported over the weekend.
