No power interruption on Thanksgiving

“We are not anticipating a power outage especially during this holiday,” said Gary P. Camacho, CUC power division manager

If a sudden and unexpected problem occurs and affects power distribution, Camacho said they have standby personnel who will be dispatched to fix the trouble right away.

He said CUC expects a reduced power demand on Thanksgiving Day.

“We hope it will be a happy and safe holiday for everyone,” Camacho added.

Schools and almost all of the government offices will be closed today.

As of yesterday, Camacho said two engines of Power Plant 1 were online and producing 9.5 megawatts.

There is no major repair and maintenance work scheduled today, he said.

Aggreko continues to supply 15 megawatts while Power Plant 4, which is operated by the Pacific Marine and Industrial Corp., generates 14.7 megawatts.

Saipan needs at least 40 megawatts everyday to supply power to its vital infrastructure, business establishments, government offices and homes.
