THE Office of Personnel Management last week launched a series of training sessions on preventing sexual harassment in the workplace.
In a memorandum on Thursday, OPM Director Frances Torres-Salas informed Special Assistant for Administration Oscar M. Babauta that the training will “cater specifically for employees in agencies and offices under the purview of the Office of the Governor.”
The first training session took place in the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality conference room from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday.
Similar training sessions will be scheduled for the management and staff of the special assistant for administration, the Commonwealth Bureau of Military Affairs, Veterans Affairs, the Public Assistance Office and the Board of Parole.
In an interview on Friday, Babauta said the training is part of the administration’s effort to prevent “potential incidents” of sexual harassment in the government in light of the governor’s declaration of October as Sexual Violence Prevention Month.
Babauta said his office has taken the lead in conducting the training sessions in coordination with the OPM director.
All personnel of executive branch agencies and departments will undergo training, he added.
