“No overtime was paid to our volunteers,” he said in an e-mail.
The DPS personnel who coordinated and participated in the event were all volunteers, he added.
“Majority were members of the Law Enforcement Month committee. Majority were from DPS, one to two personnel from each section,” Davis said.
No government funds were used for the event, he added.
As for fuel, David said the department utilized funds from the CNMI Safe and Sober Foundation.
“The vehicles [used] were authorized by our department heads,” David said.
“Pretty much, the funds raised from this month’s event will cover some expenses from the other activities pending for the month,” he added.
“The remaining funds will be use for future Law Enforcement Activities/Events such as funerals, personnel morale booster and so forth. All proceeds will be monitored and handled by the Safe and Sober which is a non-profit organization,” David said.
Basketball, volleyball, softball, and golf tournaments are lined up for the rest of the Public Safety Awareness celebration this month.
A fishing derby at the Smiling Cove Marina will be held this Friday while a Fire Division Open House is scheduled for Saturday.
