Overstaying ex-factory worker, boyfriend ordered to post $1K bail

Associate Judge Perry B. Inos imposed the bail on Wang Wei, 31, and her boyfriend Zhang Daohang of Sadog Tasi during a court hearing on Friday morning. Assistant Attorney General Kathleen Busenkell represented the government.

Inos ordered the two defendants to return to court on June 11 for a hearing to explain why they should not be deported from the CNMI.

Immigration Investigator John Peter said he and two other investigators arrested Wang Wei after she failed to provide valid immigration documentation.

Wang Wei was issued a non-resident worker’s entry permit which expired on March 31, 2008. She has overstayed in the CNMI for one year and two months.

Zhang Daohang entered CNMI as a tourist. He was issued a short-term business entry status which expired on Dec. 1, 2008. He does not have any pending immigration application in reference to his short-term business entry status. He has overstayed in the CNMI for six months.

Peter said both defendants do not have any pending labor cases, were not issued any temporary work authorization, do not have pending employment application or any pending labor administrative action.

They also did not register with the Department of Labor.
