Pacific-Asia Travel Association’s Micronesia chapter to meet on Saipan

The Managaha Marine Conservation Area in Saipan is the most popular tourist spot in the Northern Marianas.  The Micronesia chapter of the Pacific-Asia Travel Association will hold its tri-annual general membership meeting on Saipan on March 13-15, 2024.

(MVA) —  The Pacific-Asia Travel Association or PATA Micronesia chapter will hold its tri-annual general membership meeting on March 13-15 on Saipan.

PATA is a membership association acting as a catalyst for the responsible development of the Asia Pacific travel and tourism industry. The PATA Micronesia chapter consists of members from the Micronesia region working directly in the tourism industry and other related sectors.

The tri-annual meeting is being organized by the Marianas Visitors Authority.

“The mission of PATA Micronesia is to assist in the development of regional tourism industry with strategies that are environmentally sensitive, respect Micronesian cultures, adhere to high operational standards and provide opportunity for education, training and gainful employment among the resident populations of our Micronesian membership.   said MVA Managing Director Christopher A. Concepcion.   “MVA is pleased to work alongside other dedicated chapter members to amplify the voice and exposure of our slice of paradise on earth, the islands of Micronesia.”

Delegates are expected to begin arriving on March 13.  The PATA Micronesia chapter board and executive committee will meet in the morning.  All members will have a tour in the afternoon of historical and scenic sites around Saipan.

On March 14, the  membership meeting will be held at Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan all day, and delegates will have the opportunity to visit the Project Regalu/Liffang Cultural Experience after the meeting.

On March 15, the delegation will have a canoe sailing tour with 500 Sails, a non-profit organization committed to restoring the indigenous maritime traditions of the Marianas.

In previous years, MVA has collaborated with other PATA Micronesia chapter members on joint promotions at trade shows such as ITB Asia, PATA Travel Mart. ADEX Singapore, and Quality of Life Expo.

Managing Director Kadoi Ruluked of the Palau Visitors Authority is the chapter chairman.

PATA Micronesia chapter membership is open to any organization, business or individual with an interest to develop, market or sell travel to, from and within Micronesia. Its committees include Marketing, Education, Public Relations, Membership, and Culture, Heritage and Environment.
