Pacific Asia Travel Conference begins today

SOME 60 delegates from the Micronesian region have arrived to attend this year’s 3rd Pacific Asia Travel Association quarterly conference which begins today.

Acting Marianas Visitors Authority Managing Director Vicky I. Benavente said various issues relating to tourism and travels and environment protection will be discussed during the two-day conference.

“We’re excited to host them here in the CNMI. Several issues will be discussed during the two-day event,” Benavente said.

PATA is a recognized regional authority on travel and tourism, providing marketing, research and educational opportunities to member agencies.

PATA’s members include government tourist offices, airlines, hotels, travel agencies, tour operators and related companies.

The organization aims “to enhance the growth, value and quality of Pacific Asia travel and tourism for the benefit of its members.”

Committee meetings will be held separately today at Pacific Islands Club.

Tomorrow, a general membership meeting will be held in the same venue.
