Palacios entertains senior citizens at Halloween party

Palacios, a former director of Office on Aging, played the newly acquired drum set of the Saipan Senior Citizens Advisory Council.

He joined former council president Jess Pangelinan, who played the guitar, and Aging Office program coordinator Walter Manglona who played the keyboard.

“We didn’t even practice,” Pangelinan said after playing rock ‘n roll music that drew the senior citizens to the dance floor.

In an interview, Palacios said he observed that there are now fewer congregates.

“We should always be active and participate in programs,” he encouraged the senior citizens. “You’re never too old to participate.”

Aging Director Rose Mondala said their Halloween program, which was started at 10 a.m., was very successful.

Of the eleven contestants for the Halloween costume competition, Teresita Sorroza, the council president, won the top prize.

She said prize donors were Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan who provided four $25 Herman’s Bakery gift certificates and four $25 Joeten Shopping Center gift certificates; Rainbow Color, three gift certificates; Blas Alejandro, $20; Aurora Bartolome, $5; Elena Villanueva, $5; Maria Salinas, $20; Representative Palacios, toaster and electric can opener; Rep. Ray Basa, toaster; Darlyn Cabrera, Victoria’s Secret lotion; Benita Cepeda, one skirt; and Rosario Ybanez, jewelry.

Sorroza herself donated one photo album and one t-shirt.
