The complaint was filed by Lolita Gatuz and Francisco Beech on Jan. 10, 2009 and the incident happened at Ocean View Company near the Japan-Palau Friendship Bridge.
The reason for the assault was not detailed in the affidavit filed in court, but an investigator stated that the senator yelled at Gatuz, telling her to leave, before hitting her and breaking her ring finger.
Beech “tried to check what was happening” but the senator grabbed his neck and punched him on his jaw, the investigator told the court.
On Jan. 27 this year, Baules entered a not guilty plea and was released on his own recognizance,
Earlier, Baules was found guilty of one count of assault and battery. His victim was taxi driver Spis Midar.
He was sentenced to a 30-day jail time, but all suspended. He was also ordered to pay a $100 fine and a restitution of $285 to Midar. He was likewise placed on unsupervised probation.
