THE Palauan Community Association in the CNMI on Tuesday donated $500 to the Center for Living Independently.

PCA-CNMI President Johnvianney Tutiy and Vice President Thelma Mizer personally handed the check to CLI Executive Director Susan Satur, in the presence of people with disabilities served by the center. They were joined by other PCA-CNMI members.

Mizer said PCA-CNMI has been donating to various nonprofit organizations in need, such as Karidat, Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, and other groups that serve the CNMI community. Established in the early 1980s, PCA-CNMI aims to bring together the Palauans living in the CNMI to strengthen their bonds as a community and to extend support not only among themselves but also to the wider CNMI community.

Mizer added that over the past eight years, PCA-CNMI has given back through donations to organizations and community programs. She noted that the group adopted a bus stop through the Public School System, with renovation work set to begin soon.

This year, PCA-CNMI chose CLI as its beneficiary because of the center’s mission of empowering individuals to live with dignity and independence. “Supporting CLI-CNMI reflects our commitment to uplift not just the Palauan community but also the people of the CNMI because this is our home too,” she said.

PCA-CNMI also honors the late Irene Facey, one of its founders who passed away last month. Her vision and dedication helped lay the foundation for PCA’s mission of unity and service.

Through donations, Mizer said, PCA-CNMI hopes to continue fostering kindness, inclusivity and service — values that define both the Palauan spirit and the wider CNMI community.
