PALMTRIO670 is set to take islanders “out of this world” on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the 2nd SoMe Awards at Saipan World Resort.
The event is the Marianas’ only award show for local social media influencers, and this year’s theme is Area670, a playful take on Area 51.
As Lloyd Lely, a member of PalmTrio670, tells Variety, expect a “promising galaxy that has celestial bodies and an alien atmosphere” when doors open at the Royal Taga Hall starting at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets for the show and dinner buffet are available for $55 at Cafe 670 in Garapan. A limited number of tickets will be for sale at the Royal Taga Hall before the event starts. This event is open to individuals aged 16 and older.
This year’s event is hosted by Guam comedian Gene Castro, better known as @guamfunnymemes or @6enestagram on Instagram. The last time Castro performed on the Saipan World Resort stage was in August 2024, hosting PalmTrio’s first comedy event, “It’s Not That Serious Par!” where he kept the laughs rolling.
The inaugural SoMe Awards night was an energetic and entertaining gathering of podcasters, lifestyle influencers, makeup artists and gamers. This year, Lely, along with the rest of the trio — Louvicki Camacho and Jefferson Mateo — is ready to go “even larger.”
Lely said the SoMe Awards aim to lift the spirits of the island and its community.
“The community is currently hurting about different things,” Lely said. “We don’t have many events to look forward to. This event is a good excuse to come out, hang with friends and family, and have a good time! And it’s for a great cause! Content creators capitalize on the use of social media, helping to put our islands on the map! We feel that this industry can help propel our islands to greater heights.”
