“What is happening at the college is a disgrace and must end soon,” he added.
He and other parents of NMC students interviewed by this reporter expressed their concern about the impact of the non-renewals of instructors and the suspension of NMC President Carmen Fernandez on the college’s reputation.
“The damage has been done. It should now be a thing of the past and not an issue that must go on and on,” George Sablan, another parent, said.
Asked about Fernandez’s receiving benefits despite her suspension, he said: “I think maybe her suspension is sort of a ‘show’ or something.”
Students, he added, must focus on their studies and not get involved in the “politricks” on campus.
Other parents who declined to be identified — “for their children’s security” — agreed.
“Their priority should be studying and not getting involved in this mess,” a parent said. “[These issues] are the NMC administration’s business not theirs.”
