Passenger tests positive for Covid-19

This brings the CNMI’s total cases to 106 since March 28, 2020.

The individual was identified by travel screening upon arrival at the airport.

“The individual has been safely in quarantine and was moved to the designated isolation area for close monitoring,” CHCC stated.

CHCC added that it has also initiated contact tracing for the most immediate contacts of the new confirmed case, including passengers on the same flight.

As of Monday, there were three persons in isolation.

Of the 106 cases, 80 were identified through the mandatory travel screening, either on the first day of their arrival or on the fifth day.

Only 26 were diagnosed through community-based testing or  CHCC contact tracing.

CHCC said it has been 104 days since the last community transmission.

Dialogue

In related news, CHCC Chief Executive Officer Esther Muna said they will hold a public forum and/or a public education campaign about the Covid-19 vaccine in order to remove any apprehension about it.

She said community members will be given the opportunity to ask questions about the vaccine, and will issue an announcement soon.

During the governor’s media briefing on KKMP radio, Muna assured the public that CHCC will be transparent about the vaccine.
