“I see no problem with [chewing] because I pay taxes which means I contribute to the maintenance of this hospital,” a patient waiting at the children’s clinic said.
“I do not spit on the floor. I spit into my can,” another patient at the family care clinic said.
She said she brings her empty soda can with her every time she sees her doctor who checks her diabetes.
Jimmy, a patient confined at CHC, said he goes out of his room to chew betelnut.
According to the Department of Public Health, chewing betelnut, as well as smoking, within its premises is against the law.
“People who violate this will be fined,” stated a warning from the department posted on the walls of CHC.
