Patients urged to leave blankets, gowns at hospital

Rita Tenorio said their group, the CHC Volunteers Association, has been donating blankets and hospital gowns to the hospital.

“We are asking the patients that when you check out, please don’t take the blankets, sheets and hospital gowns home. They belong to the hospital, to be used by the next patients,” she said.

A couple of years back, the CHC Volunteers Association donated 1,000 sheets for the hospital beds but the sheets are now all gone, she added.

Yesterday, the volunteers donated 270 blankets, 384 hospital gowns and seven trash bins to the hospital.

The Rotary Club of Saipan, for its part, donated 300 baby blankets/towels for the pediatric department of the hospital.

Tenorio said the blankets and hospital gowns will be  marked to remind the patients that these things are not to be taken home.

Acting Public Health Secretary Pete Untalan thanked the CHC Volunteers for yet another generous donation to the hospital.

“I appreciate the tremendous support of the CHC Volunteers for being consistent with the goals of providing patient care needs. Without them it would be hard to secure these blankets and gowns,” he said.

The CHC Volunteers Association has about 15 active members and three student volunteers.

They are currently  raising funds to purchase a hyperbaric chamber and a multi-slice CT scan machine for the hospital.
