Wiseman said the court found probable cause for the continued detention of Ramon Cabrera Blas, a San Vicente resident, who appeared in court yesterday.
Blas was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the hearing.
Assistant Attorney General Russel Lorfing represented the government while the court appointed Assistant Public Defender Douglas Hartig as Blas’ counsel.
Wiseman noted Blas’ previous criminal convictions that included robbery in 2000 and theft in 1999.
Yesterday, police responded to a theft incident reported at the Kingfisher Golf Course in Talofofo at about 12:25 pm.
The victim, a 45-year-old Chinese woman, was playing golf with friends when Blas jumped into her golf cart and sped away, taking the victim’s bag left in the cart, police.
Witnesses later spotted Blas parking the cart nearby and fleeing on foot toward the cliffline.
Responding police officers apprehended Blas who was positively identified by the victim and witnesses.
