Juanita P. Villanueva, 22, is escorted by Corrections officers after a bail hearing Friday.
JUANITA P. Villanueva was soliciting money for sex, according to the police complaint and affidavit of probable cause in support of the issuance of an arrest warrant against her.
Villanueva, 22, was one of three individuals who, police said, robbed a man at gunpoint in San Antonio on Oct. 15.
The Department of Public Safety arrested Villanueva on Thursday after Criminal Investigation Division detectives, along with U.S. Marshals, located her at a residence behind Ador (not Adors as earlier reported) Restaurant in San Antonio.
Villanueva appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho on Friday for a bail hearing.
The judge imposed a $50,000 cash bail on the defendant, who was charged with robbery, principals and robbery, conspiracy and robbery, and theft.
At the hearing, Villanueva was represented by court-appointed attorney Janet King, while Chief Prosecutor Chester Hinds appeared for the government.
Villanueva was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the hearing, and ordered to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 30 at 10 a.m., and for an arraignment on Nov. 6 at 9 a.m.
According to the police affidavit, the victim told investigators that Villanueva usually “participates in various sexual activities in exchange for money.”
He said he had given Villanueva money — $50 to $70 — for sex approximately six times.
“If he had no money, she would not have sex with him, and on some occasions, he had given her money but did not receive any sexual favors from her,” the police affidavit stated.
On Oct. 15, after 7 a.m. and throughout the day, she constantly called the victim to ask for money and to meet with her. He said she called 10-15 times.
He said after 7 p.m., he picked her up in the parking area of the Pacific Islands Club. When he parked behind a black SUV, he said he observed Villanueva exiting the vehicle.
Later, using his friend’s vehicle, he said they went to the northern-most portion of San Antonio beach.
The victim said after he and Villanueva had sex in the vehicle, he noticed a car light coming toward his vehicle.
He also said that while having sex, he noticed that Villanueva was busy on her phone and her tone was “rushed” when she told him to give her the money.
He said they rushed to put their clothes back on while the black SUV parked behind his vehicle. After a while, he added, a female approached his passenger side while a male individual came up from behind him and was holding what the victim said was a black pistol pointed toward his head. The male individual told the victim in a deep voice, “Give me your money.”
The victim said he stared directly into the barrel of the pistol and as he looked away, he noticed what appeared to be a tattoo on the male individual’s left arm.
As he was about to take out money from his wallet, the unidentified male grabbed the wallet from his hand, the victim said.
He said the bag under the passenger’s seat was taken by Villanueva, and as she exited the vehicle, she also took the car key out of the car’s ignition and left with the two unidentified suspects.
According to the victim, his wallet contained approximately $310, a debit card, a credit card, a Social Security card, a technician card and his CNMI driver’s license.
The bag contained food stamps and two keys for his other vehicles, he added.
