Acting CPA Executive Director Lee Cabrera did not say who filed the protest.
In his report to the governor, he said CPA will issue a decision on the protest with the next few weeks.
Due to safety concerns in light of the daily power outages on Saipan, the Federal Aviation Administration will fund the purchase of a new generator for the airport.
Cabrera earlier said that cost of the new equipment and installation will amount to $2 million.
CPA has signed a contract with GPPC Inc. for the procurement of the new generator which is expected to be operational in about 500 days.
The Saipan airport has two generators but both are broken and CPA is still waiting for the spare parts that will be delivered by its contractor, Seafix Inc.
The cost of the repair, which is expected to be completed in five months, is $200,000.
Recently, the FAA sent a letter to Gov. Benigno R. Fitial regarding safety concerns at the airport.
