Gloria DLG. Sablan, JG Sablan Water & Ice Inc. manager, said they did “extra sampling” after receiving reports that some staff and patients at the hospital experienced diarrhea due to water contamination.
“The management wants to assure the community that our water is safe and its quality is good,” she said.
Based on the bacteriological quality report conducted by Quality Water Inc. on Oct. 29, JG Sablan said there was an “absence” of total coliform and fecal coliform in its two refilling stations, two bottling stations and bulk water stations.
The company also got an “A” rating in the recent Bureau of Environmental Health food and drink establishment inspection report.
Deputy Public Health Secretary for Administration John M. Tagabuel, who is also an environmental health officer, said they have asked the Division of Environmental Quality to conduct a water examination at the hospital.
The water was found to be negative of any contamination but at least six water dispensers were found to be positive of total coliform, he said.
CHC immediately addressed this water problem, he said.
Sablan said when DEQ took samples at the hospital, samples were also taken at JG Sablan and they did not indicate any water contamination.
