Education Commissioner Dr. Alfred Ada said they are Phyllis Ain, of William S. Reyes Elementary School; Frank Lee Borja, Saipan Southern High School; Lizabeth Hofschneider, Tinian Junior High School; and Kyle Munn, Kagman High School.
They met the eligibility requirements for the teacher representative election, Ada said, adding that the electronic voting started on Dec. 2 and will end on Dec. 8.
Under BOE policy, a teacher representative will be selected through primary, general and runoff elections.
In the primary election, there is no limit on the number of teachers who can run and schools may have multiple candidates.
The education commissioner will certify the qualifying candidates and place their names on the election ballot.
The top five candidates in the primary election will be on the ballot for the general election.
This year, however, there are only four candidates for the general election.
The top two will again compete in a runoff election. The winner will be
the new teacher representative to the BOE.
All elections are held electronically and teachers can cast their votes through a voting portal available on the PSS website.
