PSS buses get new tracking device

PSS has installed multiple maps and GPS devices in five school buses and two buses for the special education program, he said.

These devices will ensure the safety of  school children, he said.

With these devices, PSS can also monitor the fuel consumption of the buses and their driving speed.

The device called “Max Track” is provided by Docomo Pacific for a two-year contract worth $1,500 for  five buses, Diaz said.

Max Track, according to Docomo, allows for real-time updates, uninterrupted route tracking, multiple user access, customer support, speed monitoring, email and SMS notifications, vehicle location logs, customizable notifications for points of interest, detailed mileage reports, and many other exportable reports.

Diaz said they are working to have all their 18 buses installed with a tracking device.

If the device is tampered, he said, they will immediately receive a text message informing them about the situation.

He said they can monitor the location of the buses by simply going to the Google map, which “refreshes” every 20 seconds to show the last six stops of the buses.

Diaz said PSS was able to secure funds for the tracing device from the Federal Transit Administration.
