PSS: FY ’08 budget to cover last payroll, CUC obligations

PSS acting finance director Lori Grizzard told Variety on Friday that their obligations to personnel and the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. will be paid under their FY 2008 budget, which amounts to $35.8 million.

This includes the more than $3 million PSS must pay for its utilities, which used to be paid by the central government.

After a meeting with CUC officials on Friday, Grizzard said the agency is considering the appeal of PSS regarding the $800,000 in utilities bills “overcharged” in FYs 2007 and 2008.

The system’s last payroll cut-off for FY 2008 covers the Sept. 21-Oct. 22 period.

Grizzard said the personnel cost for this period amounts to $1.1 million.

PSS, she added, will also be able to pay the $1.1 million it believes it owes to CUC.

“These obligations will still be paid under our FY 2008 budget,”  she said.

All disbursements of funds from the PSS budget are made by the Department of Finance, she added.

PSS, for its part, processes  bills and documents from all vendors.

“We’re keeping all the records…but as far as disbursement, Finance is doing that job,” Grizzard said.

PSS, she added, paid a total of $2.473 million to CUC in FY 2008.

But PSS has yet to pay CUC $34,874 for April; $323,536, May; $370,885; June; $313,707, July; and $141,726, August.
