Sablan reported during the Board of Education meeting on Friday that the feedback the Public School System received from principals, program managers and key staffers were, so far, positive regarding the first day of classes on Sept. 7.
Sablan said the reports they received also indicated “a very successful and smooth” school opening.
Students were in their classrooms on time, buses went out as scheduled, breakfast and lunch meals were adequately provided and teachers were ready.
Sablan said for school year 2010-2011, PSS hired 66 new teachers for schools on Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
To date, she said the school system has about 600 teachers.
PSS, she added, also has 16 special education program service providers in occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech and language therapy, audiology and behavioral psychology.
