Variety learned that the Commonwealth Health Center has already assigned staff to conduct “passive screening” on passengers arriving at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport.
Through this screening, passengers will be checked for any symptoms that resemble that of swine flu.
Public Health said hand-outs on basic hygiene and availability of test in case of swine flu infection have already been disseminated.
Public Health’s emergency operations center hotline is 236-8787.
The Emergency Management Office activated its own emergency center.
EMO Director Jack Omar said they will be a support agency that provides transportation and other necessary logistics.
Two of their staff members, Omar said, will be working 24/7 to make sure EMO is ready any time it is needed.
Public Health, according to program analyst Roxanne Diaz, will release an update on the swine flu situation on a daily basis.
Public Health at the same time advises members of the community to always wash their hands.
Swine flu, the advisory said, has no vaccine, only treatment. Its symptoms are coughing, sneezing and headache.
