The public is invited to say hello to the crew of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 on Wednesday, June 26 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport.
MEMBERS of the public are invited to take a close look at a U.S. Navy MH-60S helicopter and meet its crew on Wednesday, June 26 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport.
Lt. Richly Olopai Babauta of the Navy Recruiting Processing Station on Guam said the crew of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 or the “Island Knights” will be present alongside their search and rescue helicopter.
“As the premier search and rescue helicopter squadron serving the Marianas, HSC-25 would like to open up the cockpit and cabin of the MH-60S helicopter to the Saipan public,” Babauta said. “The public is welcome to come on down, meet the crew, and snap some pictures with the [helicopter].”
He said Navy recruiters will also be on site for those considering a career in the Navy.
According to the Navy’s website, HSC-25 directly supports the U.S. Coast Guard and Joint Region Marianas. It has “launched 2,445 missions, resulting in 762 medical evacuations, and rescuing 475 lives from waters and jungles of the island chain.”
The MH-60S is a “multi-mission platform” that can carry 12 passengers and four crewmembers. It has the capability of lifting over 6,000 pounds and “possesses the latest state-of-the-art night-vision-goggle-compatible cockpit and provides an all-weather mission capability platform.”
