GOVERNOR Juan N. Babauta is urging the public to help the police solve the 1988 murder of a woman at a make-shift typhoon shelter in Chalan Kanoa.

“The Department of Public Safety is seeking the help of the public to help solve this brutal crime,” said Babauta on Friday, referring to the killing of Delores Reyes Ayuyu.

Babauta said anyone wishing to contribute information about the murder of Ayuyu can contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 664-9042 or the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 234-7272.

According to DPS homicide bulletin no. 11 prepared by Det. Juan M. Santos, Ayuyu’s body was discovered inside an old water tank that was converted into a shelter on Nov. 8, 1988 at 4:35 p.m.

The victim’s body was badly decomposed. She was fully clothed and had injuries on the head.

Autopsy showed that the victim died as a result of skull fracture.

Police said further investigation showed that Ayuyu was dropped off by a friend in Chalan Kanoa. Prior to the discovery of her body, the victim was last seen walking along As Perdido road on Nov. 5, 1988.
