SAIPAN Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho held a meeting with several regulatory agencies and Hyatt representatives regarding urgent concerns involving the shoreline of Hyatt Regency Saipan.
Mayor Camacho has been concerned over the general state of the shoreline in the area, and the safety risks it pose to residents and tourists.
The obstacle in question contains metal shards, which protrude from the sand and water.
In the meeting, plans were discussed on how to address the problem. The agencies in attendance voiced their concerns and perspectives on how to address the issue. Important matters such as ascertaining the overall size of the obstacle were also discussed.
As a temporary precaution, barricades will be installed around the obstacle to prevent people from approaching it and potentially endangering themselves. In addition, the agencies in attendance agreed to the mayor’s idea of organizing themselves into an “action team” to address this urgent issue.
Mayor Camacho emphasized the need for cooperation among the agencies to find an effective solution to these types of pressing matters pertaining to the safety of the people.
The safety of our residents and visitors and the well-being of the island’s environment continue to be a top priority of Mayor Camacho.
