He commended Customs Director Jose Mafnas who has said that community members have been providing Customs with information regarding any unusual activity.
“The community is larger than the law enforcement agencies, so we should reach out to the public,” said Camacho, who initiated the Neighborhood Watch Task Force on Saipan.
He said by tapping the resources and the cooperation of the community, the public’s trust in law enforcement officers will be strengthened.
Camacho, who is also chairman of the parole board, said he and some parolees are developing a community garden in a recently acquired public land in Susupe.
Once the garden has been cultivated, it will be turned over to the public, he added.
