Recruiter of Filipino tourist denies allegation

It was Sablan who was the “sponsor” of the “tourists.”

He said he was able to talk with the recruiter, Yolanda Alfante, to ask for financial assistance for the “tourists.”

“But she denied any involvement in illegal recruitment,” Sablan told Variety.

The “tourists” said they paid Alfante “placement fees” for CNMI jobs that turned out to be nonexistent.

Sablan said he has been helping the Filipinos because Alfante refused to provide financial support.

Alfante  is in the Philippines.

“We cook them food and give them shelter,” Sablan said, referring to the five Filipinos.

Seven other “tourists” also recruited by Alfante and her agents have already returned to the Philippines.

Sablan said three Filipinos are temporarily residing at his house.

The other two, Gilbert Oandasan and Carlos Ramos, have already been hired as security guards.

Darwin A. Viloria, one of the three residing at Sablan’s house, said he will filed criminal charges against Alfante and is warning other Filipinos not to transact business with her.

He said he learned that Alfante is now is recruiting workers for Guam.

Viloria and his two companions  Noelito Jumawan and Romeo Tesorero have been granted a temporary work authorization by the Department of Labor in April and they are planning to seek for a renewal this month.

Labor prohibits tourists from filing a labor complaint and the memorandum.

Labor considers the Filipino “tourists” as cooperating witnesses in a labor case.
