Red Cross says walkathon a big success

“Due to the hard work of school coordinators throughout the CNMI, the NMI chapter exceeded it revenue projections and raised nearly $60,000 to support the life saving mission of the Red Cross” said John Hirsh, the chapter’s executive director.

“Fundraising is never easy, particularly when the economy is tough, but our community has trust in the Red Cross and believes in the programs and services we provide” said Hirsh.

Co-chairs Roxanne Ferrer and Josh Sasamoto led a dedicated group of volunteers through weeks of planning and hard work to a successful fun filled event.

The NMI chapter thanks its premier sponsors: Coke, Subway, Foremost and Glimpses, as well as the hundreds of other donors that gave generously in an effort to support the walkathon.

Prizes including cell phones and Netbook computers will be distributed late this week and early next week. For more information about the NMI chapter and how to get involved, cal 234-3459 or visit the Web site at www.nmi.redcross.org
