According to the council’s executive director, Scott Russell, the institute is a biannual program undertaken in conjunction with the CNMI Public School System.
The institute, which will run from Aug. 1 to 20, is open to public and private K-12 teachers on Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
In past years, teachers from Rota and Tinian participated remotely via video teleconferencing. Russell noted that this year, scholars will make separate presentations on those islands thus allowing for face-to-face interaction with participants.
The registration form and an institute schedule may be obtained from the Humanities Council office in Gualo Rai, from the human resources office at PSS on Capital Hill, or downloaded from the council’s website at www.nmihumanities.org.
A non-refundable registration fee of $100 includes supplemental PowerPoint programs, light refreshments, and a completion certificate.
Registration forms and fees must be received by the council no later than 4 p.m. on July 15. Institute seating is limited and teachers will be registered on a first come, first served basis.
