Remengesau visits S. Korea

KOROR (Palau Horizon) — President Tommy Remengesau is off to his first state visit to South Korea to meet its government officials, tour economic development infrastructure and join the nation’s World Cup celebration.

Remengesau and his delegation were scheduled to visit the Rural Development Administration, KIA Motors’s Hwasung factory, the Convention and Exhibit Center and the Iloam Art Museum. They will also meet the 2010 World Expo Bidding Committee members, attend the World Cup opening ceremony, the World Cup eve festival and a luncheon hosted by Korean President Kim Dae Jung.

Remengesau’s delegation included his Cabinet members, traditional chiefs Gibbons and Reklai, governors, economic advisors and businessmen.

Remengesau will also tour several infrastructure projects, including a sewage treatment facility site, the Busan City Hall and Busan Aquarium, an incineration site, a recycling facility, the Kimhae City Hall, the Taekwang 2nd plant construction site, and the Saha recycling facility construction site.

Remengesau said he hopes this visit to South Korea will bring closer ties and economic benefits to the two countries.
