“The world continues to evolve with never-ending challenges,” he said. “Therefore, I firmly believe that educated citizens provide creativity and innovation, which gives us the tools to develop more feasible solutions to economic obstacles the CNMI may face.”
“More importantly,” the former Board of Education chairman added, “an educated society further enhances the resilience of individuals to overcome challenges when faced with difficult situations.”
If reelected, Benavente said he will continue working with educators “to craft and [clarify] their vision to improve and support the education system.”
He noted, however, that a two- year term is a very short amount of time to achieve long-term goals.

“So I always focus my efforts on legislation that prioritizes programs that have direct benefits to our communities. In the next two years, if reelected, I will work on a feasible economic approach to our pandemic environment, such as building on our farming and [fishing] industry to supplement our needs during [these] trying times due to the lack of tourism we are encountering.”
He also vowed to revisit all existing policies and work with stakeholders to identify the most feasible approaches to the CNMI’s current problems.
Aside from authoring the constitutional mandate that allots 25% of government revenue to the Public School System, Benavente has also served the community in various capacities for 14 years.
“As a public servant, I’ve always been dedicated to working diligently with others to deliver results. I do my best to create value in my field that would always benefit my community,” he said.
