“The larger thrust is with the $150 million that we need to deal with,” Reyes said.
House Bill 16-130, now Public Law 16-7, provides $3.4 million to CUC.
Of this amount, $1.5 million will go for the initial payment of 15 megawatts of emergency power services that will be provided by the U.K.-based Aggreko International Projects Ltd.
The governor has requested a FY 2009 budget of $158.4 million which includes several cost-cutting measures.
According to Reyes, the administration is prepared to work with the Legislature in reformulating an FY 2009 budget.
What should be identified, he added, are budget cuts.
“We are willing to consider modifications [of the proposed budget],” he said, adding the governor’s office is more focused on the across-the-board salary cuts.
But he said the pay cut measure “was not entertained, unfortunately” by the Legislature.
