In its meeting yesterday, the Rota legislative delegation adopted the resolution supporting Pacific-Green’s application for the high energy cost grant program offered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
“Investing in cost-effective energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements to homes and businesses can save energy, cut utility bills, reduce reliance on fossil fuel, and dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions,”
Rota Legislative Delegation Resolution 17-9 stated.
Pacific-Green intends to operate a renewable energy plant on Rota.
The members of the delegation are Senate President Paul A. Manglona, Sens. Juan M. Ayuyu, Jovita M. Taimanao and Rep. Teresita A. Santos. All independents.
They also adopted two other resolutions:
• R.L.D.R. 17-10 to reprogram the fund balances from Commonwealth Development Authority bond interest project for Rota.
The funds will be appropriated for an unidentified mayor’s project, $87,246, and the west marina ramp’s maintenance dredging, repair and installation of gangway, $7,500.
• R.L.D.R. 17-11, which recommends that the delegation conduct quarterly community meetings to keep the community informed about the activities, actions and decisions taken by the delegation and to hear the concerns of the people.
“In an effort to establish an open and effective dialogue between the delegation and the members of our community, we must reach out and listen to the concerns, issues, and recommendations of our community,” said Santos who authored the resolution.
