AT the Rotary Club of Saipan meeting on Tuesday, July 23, the incoming president of the Rotaract Club of Saipan, Genelin Camacho, and the outgoing president, Richard Baleares, talked about the projects that the Rotaract and Interact clubs of Saipan plan to undertake for the rest of 2024.

They also discussed the projects they have completed since January.

The Rotaract and Interact clubs are the youth affiliates of the Rotary Club. Interact is for youths 12 to 18 years old while Rotaract is for young adults 18 to 30 years old.

Camacho and Beleares said the Rotaract Club of Saipan will hold an installation night for their new officers, which include Camacho, on July 27 at Crowne Plaza Resort.

They are also planning a Health and Wellness International Service Project in collaboration with a Rotaract Club at the University of Angeles, Baleares said. Details were still tentative.

In addition, he said, the Rotaract Club of Saipan is preparing for a visit of Guam Rotaract members set for Nov. 2.

Baleares also asked Rotarians to recommend youth community members to join their ranks.

Camacho said interested community members who are 18 years and older can reach out to rotaractclubofsaipan670@gmail.com or send a message on Instagram (@rotaractclubofsaipan).

The projects that the Rotaract and Interact clubs of Saipan implemented this year included a 5k fun run to celebrate Rotaract’s 10th anniversary in February. They also participated in a Rotary Club district seminar on Guam in May; a tree-planting activity at Pakpak Beach also in May; the second Summer Showdown video game fundraising tournament in June; and volunteering with the IRT Wellness Mission in June. They also helped clean up Old Man by the Sea on Saturday.
