Rotary Club seeks more DVD donations for veterans

Rotarian Mike Tripp will be on KZMI radio station to urge members of the community to donate their new or used DVDs or portable DVD players to veterans.

He has already contacted DVDs4VETS, a New York-based organization whose mission is to provide veterans with DVDs.

“They are very happy that the Rotary Club of Saipan will be donating DVDs,” Tripp said.

He also checked with the postal office regarding the shipping rates for DVDs.

“The media mail rates are about $15 to $16 per box of 120 DVDs or so — we are within our budget range,” Tripp said.

Tripp pledged to donate 650 DVDs and the Rotary Club needs to collect 350 more to complete the target of 1,000 or more DVDs.

Tripp said he has already received $500 in pledges from Rotarians.

Veterans who want to receive DVDs can visit www.dvds4vets.org for more information.
