Antonina Senchenko filed the complaint in the U.S. District Court for the NMI against Sasha Co. Ltd., its president Alexander Vekhov and Does 1-V.
Her attorneys, Michael W. Dotts and Colin M. Thompson, said their client wants a jury trial.
Based on documents they submitted, Senchenko worked for Sasha from Nov. 2007 to Oct. 2010.
Although she was hired as a translator under their contractual agreement, Senchenko said she was required to work as a travel and sales agent and accountant.
“She was not paid for her overtime hours. In additional, plaintiff was placed on standby status to handle calls from customers seven days a week, 24 hours per day. She was not paid for the time she was required to standby,” the complaint stated.
She was also required to contribute $1,000 to a “rainy day” savings fund that the defendants kept in a bank box, the complaint added.
When the defendants learned that Senchenko was pregnant, they told her she would be replaced due to concerns over her medical bills, the complaint stated.
Senchenko was forced to quit, it added. She is asking numerous reliefs which include unpaid wages, liquidated and statutory damages, punitive damages, attorney’s fees and costs.
