
(SCC) — The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will hold its September general membership meeting (on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the Hibiscus Hall, Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan, a valued Chamber member and event host.
This month’s meeting will feature updates from several of the Chamber’s key working committees, including the Government Relations Committee chaired by Ron Smith, the Armed Forces Committee led by Brad Ruszala, and the Education and Workforce Development Committee, chaired by Mercilynn Palec.
Attendees will also hear from Attorney Tina Azarvand, Esq. of Azarvand Tax Law, who will present on current tax and compliance topics impacting CNMI employers. Her presentation will address the implications of the USCIS-IRS cooperation agreement for CW-1 employers, strategies for businesses facing financial hardship, the long-term effects of IRS noncompliance on Social Security benefits, and an overview of proposed tax code changes.
In addition, Dr. Lawrence Camacho, commissioner of education for the CNMI Public School System, will share insights from the recent CNMI Stakeholders Conference, focused on “The Portrait of the Graduate.” His presentation will highlight initiatives aimed at preparing local students with the academic, technical, and workforce skills needed to strengthen the CNMI’s talent pipeline and economic future.
These timely and relevant topics will provide valuable information for business owners, employers, and community leaders as the CNMI navigates ongoing economic challenges and growth opportunities.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., with the meeting beginning promptly at 12 noon. The luncheon fee is $35 for Chamber members and $40 for future members.
