Saipan delegation confirms 3 SHEFA board nominees

THE Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation on Wednesday confirmed the re-appointment of Kaelani Demapan and the nominations of Henry Hofschneider and Guadalupe Ingham as members of the Saipan Higher Educational Financial Assistance board.

Nineteen of the 21 members present voted to confirm Demapan and Hofschneider while Ingham received the support of 18 members. Rep. BJ Attao voted “present.” Reps. Ralph Yumul and Joseph Flores were excused.

SHEFA was created by Saipan Local Law 13-21 to provide supplemental financial assistance to qualified Saipan and Northern Island residents pursuing a post-secondary education on Saipan or abroad. 

SHEFA is primarily funded by the local license fees for poker and pachinko machines with additional funding assistance from the Casino Gross Revenue Tax.
