THE Saipan Humane Society will host at-cost spay and neuter clinics for dogs and cats from Feb. 5 to 15 at the Koblerville Youth Center, SHS clinic manager Ruby Ma said.

Surgeries cost $75 for male and female dogs as well as female cats while the cost for male cats is $50.

Ma said individuals on the SHS wait list will get priority scheduling. She said those individuals should view their emails, as reservation communications were sent on Jan. 8.

Other members of the public will be invited to schedule pet surgeries on Jan. 15. Ma said the reservation link will be available on the SHS website, saipanhumanesociety.org/.

SHS aims to perform 28 surgeries per day that include dog and cat spay and neuter operations. Ma said at least one day will be devoted specifically to spay and neuter cats.

She added that owners will be instructed to drop their animals at the Koblerville Youth Center in the morning. SHS staff and volunteers will arrange pickup later that same day.

Ma said while animals are in surgery, SHS can provide at-cost vaccinations or other needed services, such as deworming or flea and tick medication.

Instructions on how to care for dogs or cats before and after surgery will be sent to pet owners via email.

Ma said announcements regarding the upcoming pet clinics will be made via social media, so pet owners should follow SHS on Facebook or Instagram.

Pet owners may also contact info@saipanhumanesociety.org for questions.

Ma said if a pet owner makes an appointment but later cannot drop their pet at the scheduled time, the owner should contact SHS as soon as possible to make a cancelation.

“Our goal is to fill up every slot we have,” Ma said. “We want to encourage people to sign up and get their animals spayed and neutered.”

Ma said financial assistance may be available to qualified individuals.

“We [are] also open to people who have financial issues,” she said. “Contact us and see whether we can adjust the price or do some funding to help lower the cost, so [pet owners] can afford to get their animals spayed and neutered.”
