THE Saipan Humane Society will be open on Nov. 4, Saturday, from 8 a.m. till noon at the Saipan mayor’s animal shelter in As Perdido, clinic manager Ruby Ma said.
“We’ve been receiving many suggestions of having a clinic on the weekend to accommodate people who work during the week,” Ma added.
She said this Saturday’s clinic hours are a “trial run” and could be made permanent if the community shows an interest in them.
Services offered this Saturday include vaccinations, flea and tick medicine prescriptions, heart worm medication, and sick visit consultations.
Ma said the Saipan Humane Society also needs volunteers for a variety of tasks around the animal shelter.
She said they currently have a staff of four who perform administrative work, veterinarian care, and tend to the animals housed at the shelter kennels. Ma said they work alongside the municipal animal shelter staff, but community support is also needed.
“We can see 40 to 50 patients a day,” she said, adding that volunteers are needed to, among other things, walk, socialize, feed, and bathe dogs.
Weekday clinic hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday to Friday.
