Mayor Juan B. Tudela said his branch office in Lower Base was not able to dispatch its equipment and vehicles for their regular maintenance projects.
For two weeks now, he added, they have not been provided fuel allocations and the Department of Finance is still trying to address this problem.
Although, there’s a regular budget for fuel allowance, the payment process takes time, Tudela said.
The mayor’s office maintains heavy equipment and vehicles used to pick up scrap metal, deliver water or filling materials for road maintenance projects.
“We can’t move if this situation persists,” the mayor said, adding that other government offices are experiencing a similar predicament.
Tudela said the administration and the Legislature are aware of the situation and “I hope they can do something to fix it.”
He added that his office continues to provide vehicles to residents who request for their use, but they have to provide for the fuel.
