Special assistant to the mayor Henry Hofschneider said the minimum bid was $10,000 and the Saipan Vegas bid of $12,600 topped the only other bidder’s.
Hofschneider said the $12,600 is payable on or before Dec. 18 every year for five years.
The previous bingo licensee was Ben Babauta.
Hofschneider said Saipan Vegas can now operate bingo games anywhere on island.
“They can have different bingo branches and outlets,” he said, but added that the sole bingo licensee cannot assign its license to another person.
Under the law, the sole bingo licensee can also help charitable or non-profit organizations raise funds.
