“I am honored and grateful to join everyone in honoring and recognizing the many inspiring and influential women of the CNMI and all over the globe for their valuable contributions and remarkable achievements in making our democracy the driver for economic and social progression,” the mayor said, in support of Women’s Month.
He said Women’s Month should also remind the community of the successes and achievements of women in the past, the ongoing efforts in progressing women’s equality in the present, and the need to support the empowerment of women for the future.
“It is important that we continue to encourage awareness and teach each other about equal rights and respect for both women and men,” the mayor said.
He added that through positive changes, men and women can create a more balanced society.
The mayor encourages community members to join him in honoring and paying tribute to women, including all women in the nation’s armed forces, who made history and dedicated their lives to ensure women all around the globe are granted the respect and equality every person deserves.
“I strongly believe that equality can only be achieved if diversities, qualities, and differences of both genders are truly and equally valued,” Apatang said.
