Saipan Rotary Club donates windows for kid’s hospital in Russia

Pacific Islands Club Russian market manager Elly Stoilova said the Rotary Club of Saipan agreed to donate four large windows for the children’s orphanage hospital, while PIC also donated one window.

“These windows which cost $550 each could go a long way in helping the orphaned children at the hospital keep warm,” Stoilova said.

She said the weekly Vladisvostok-based Konkurent newspaper initiated the “Warm Window” fundraising activity last month, asking generous individuals to produce 36 large windows for the hospital.

She added that the orphanage hospital has 80 children aged 3 months to four years old, and 25 abandoned children who have been born with acquired immune deficiency syndrome or AIDS.

“It’s a very old hospital and the windows need to be changed. About 10 to 12 kids are cramped inside one room,” Stoilova said.

She added that of the 36 windows needed, six had already been installed including the one donated by the PIC, and 18 windows had already been purchased ready for installation.

She said the old hospital has so many needs to be met, and the windows are just one of those needs.

Stoilova said with PIC’s window donation, they also sent a dozen PIC mascots as toys for the children.

She extends her thanks to the generosity of the Saipan Rotary Club.

“This gesture is greatly appreciated. In return, she said this could generate more exposure of Saipan to the Russian community.
